The documentary debunks the myths that have arisen around the Mayan calendar and 2012, and shares some real wisdom about what we should all be doing today to create a better future. "The Mayans are getting more and more ticked off by all of the people who are using 'The Mayans say that the world is going to end in 2012' to rake in billions of dollars," said Engle in an interview with Westword newspaper.

"2012: The True Mayan Prophecy" includes interviews with Nobel Peace Laureate and Maya Indian Rigoberta Menchú Tum, Mayan Elders, leading scientists, and other Nobel Laureates including Desmond Tutu and the Dalai Lama. The Dalai Lama shares his concern that the current atmosphere of tension and fear is very dangerous for humanity. The goal of the movie is to let the Maya speak for themselves, Engle said.
